## Why Arlo Wynwood

Your only fixed morning commitment is the Friday workshop in Wynwood, so sleep next to it. Arlo Wynwood (2217 NW Miami Ct) is the one full-service hotel inside the Wynwood arts district proper. Most workshop venues in Wynwood are a 5 to 15 minute walk or a 5 minute ride from it. You will not be crossing a causeway at 8am on the day you have to be sharp and set up early.

Staying in South Beach near your friend's office is the tempting alternative, but it optimizes for the wrong day. Thursday afternoon you are on calls and can do those from the office or a hotel room. Friday morning you must be on time and calm. The South Beach to Wynwood drive is 20 minutes with no traffic and 35 to 50 minutes in weekday morning traffic across the MacArthur or Julia Tuttle causeway. Wynwood also puts you near Thursday night drinks, so you walk home after and are not the person watching the clock on a rideshare.

Practical notes on Arlo:
- Rooftop pool and bar are useful for a quiet post-call decompress before dinner.

- Lobby and rooftop are fine for taking a call. Ask for a higher floor away from NW 2nd Ave for nightlife noise on Thursday.

1. **Moxy Miami Wynwood** (255 NW 25th St). Newer, cheaper, right on the main strip. Louder and more party-oriented. Fine if Arlo is sold out.
2. **Hyatt Centric Brickell** or **Novotel Miami Brickell**. Not in Wynwood, but a 10 to 15 minute ride north on Biscayne Blvd against the morning flow. Pick these only if you want a more corporate, quiet hotel.
3. If you must stay in South Beach to be near the office, choose something at the south end near the MacArthur Causeway on-ramp (roughly 5th to 10th St, west of Collins Ave, such as Kimpton Angler's) and leave by 7:45am on Friday.

## Why KYU for Thursday night

KYU (251 NW 25th St) is the reliable client-dinner pick in Wynwood. Wood-fired Asian menu, strong cocktail and sake list, and a bar area that works if the client only wants drinks rather than a full dinner. It is polished enough for a corporate guest but still feels like Wynwood, which is a nice tone-setter for a workshop about a new tool. It is an 8 to 10 minute walk from Arlo, so you can be at the hotel for your last call and still arrive first.

How to run the evening:
- Book a table for 7:30pm or 8pm now. Thursday nights fill up. Book under your name with a note that it is a business dinner and you may add one or two guests.
- If the client says "just drinks," meet at the KYU bar first and let the table be optional. That avoids a second venue and a second decision.
- Keep it to one location and aim to be done by 10pm. You are presenting in the morning.

Backups for drinks and food, all within a 10 minute walk of Arlo except Lagniappe, which is about 20 minutes on foot or a 5 minute ride:
1. **Bakan** (2801 NW 2nd Ave). Upscale Mexican with a long mezcal and tequila list and a big open bar. Best choice if the client is more of a drinks-and-snacks person than a sit-down-dinner person.
